EXPEDITIONS

 EXPEDITIONS- 10 days / 9 nights 

Day 1 -   8.30am leave hotel, 9.00am depart from the port of Manaus down the Rio Negro from where we will see the Palafitas riverside dwellings, the Ponta Negra beach and the Tropical Hotel. On reaching the Praia Grande we will have lunch on board the boat, then go the beach to swim in the river and prepare a fire to cook fish for dinner. Spending the night on the boat or on the beach. 

Day 2 -           After breakfast we will travel approximately 15 kms on the other side of the Rio Negro to the village of Jaraqui (a small co0mmunity inhabited by descendants of the indians). Luch on board the boat. At 2.00pm we will canoe to a small wafertall where we can swim, returning to the boat to eat and spend the night. 

Day 3            After breakfast we will travel up the Rio Negro to the Anavilhanas Islands (the largest river archipelago in the world) and turn into the tributary, Rio Cuieiras. Lunch. We will prepare equipment for camping before leaving for our survival training where we will leam the secrets of being self sufficient in the jungle. Eat and sleep in the jungle.

Day 4 -            After breakfast we will trek back to the boat and go fishing for piranhas and other fish. Lunch. We will travel towards the Rio Solimoes, stopping overnight at Janauari Lake. 

Day 5 -           We will spend the morning at the Meeting of the Waters then continue up the ‘Furo do Araça’. At night we will go out hunting for alligators. 

Day 6 -           After breakfast, paddle in the canoes though the Igarapes and Igapos then in the afternoon fish using spears, fishing lines and nets. 

Day 7 -           Leave for the Battata Igarape visit the Ze Açu Igarape. At night we will hunt for çau alligators. 

Day 8 -           Trek to the Planice, learning about various types of medicinal plants, edible water and possibly hunting for food. 

Day 9 -           Return to Araça visiting the ‘Dolphin’ and ‘garçal’ lakes and the rubber plantation in the afternoon. After dark we will again fish using spears. 

Day 10-          Return to Manaus along the Solimoes. 

Arrival:    5.00pm. Transport:  Riverboat or canoe

 GRAVIOLA TOUR – RIO SOLIMOES / RIO PURUS

14 days / 13 nights

  Day 1 -  8.30am leave hotel, 9.00am depart from the port of Manaus, down the Rio Negro, Seeing the city of Manaus with its riverside dwellings which are called Palafitas, 10 kms from Manaus we will witness the phonomenon of the Meeting of the waters of the Rio Negro and the Solimoes which run side by side for 6 kms before mixing. We will follow the Rio Solimoes to the Janauary Ecological Park where we will observe the different eco systems of the region, the famous ‘Vitoria-regia’ water lillies and have the opportunity to buy indigenous handcraft. After lunch we will follow the Solimoes for another 250 kms, admir ing the fauna and flora and native families of one of the most beautiful regions of Amazonia. This will take 5 days, stopping off a points of beauty and interest.

Day 5 -           We arrive at Rio Purus, one of the most beautiful tributaries of the Rio Solimoes and the close to the jungle as we explore its relatively untouched water.

                        The next 5 days will be filled with actitivities including jungle treks, caiman hunting, fishing for piranhas and large fish like Tucunare, Pintados, Jaus, Matrinchas etc., paddling around the Igapos and Igarapes, visiting genuine primitive famillies living in the area, getting to know the trees, the medicinal plants, survival fraining (living and camping in the jungle). The region is rich in bird lifeand we will learn their local names, there are also many species of monkey and other types of animais. The program is flexible to your preferences.

Day 11 -          Return to Manaus

Day 11 – 14 -  Return to Manaus

 BOTO COR DE ROSA – RIO ARAÇA

7 days / 6 nights

Day 1 -           8.30am leave the hotel, 9.00am depart from the port of Manaus, down to the Rio Negro from where we will see the city with its riverside dwellings called Palafitas. At 10 kms from Manaus we will witness the phonomenon of the Meeting of the Waters of the Rio Negro and Solimoes which run side by side for 6 kms before mixing. We will follo the Rio Solimoes to the Pacatuba canal though we will reach the Rio Araça. Sleep on board the boat.

Day 2 -           In the morning we will canoe around the Igarapes and Igapos. In the afternoon we will visit the Caboclos and the rubber plantation. After dark we will hunt for Tinga alligators which are than 2 meters long.

Day 3 -           We will fish using spears, fishing lines and nets. In the afternoon we will visit the Dolphin and Garçal lakes and see the sloths in the trees.

Day 4 -           We will leave for the Battata Igarape, then visit the Zé Açu Igarape and at night hunt for Açu alligators which reach a length of 4 meters.

Day 5 -           Jungle trek through primary forest where our guide will show us various types of medicinal plants, edible fruits and lianas which contain potable water as well as techniques fo hunting for food. Overnight in the jungle.

Day 6 -           Return to Araça. At night we will fish using spears

Day 7 -           Follow the Rio Solimoes back to Manaus.
