EXPEDITIONS-

Day
1 - 8.30am leave hotel, 9.00am depart from the port of
Manaus down the Rio Negro from where we will see the Palafitas
riverside dwellings, the Ponta Negra beach and the Tropical
Hotel. On reaching the Praia Grande we will have lunch on board the
boat, then go the beach to swim in the river and prepare a fire to cook
fish for dinner. Spending the night on the boat or on the beach.
Day 2 -
After breakfast
we will travel approximately 15 kms on the other side of the Rio Negro to
the village of Jaraqui (a small co0mmunity inhabited by descendants of the
indians). Luch on board the boat. At 2.00pm we will canoe to a small
wafertall where we can swim, returning to the boat to eat and spend the
night.
Day 3
–
After breakfast
we will travel up the Rio Negro to the Anavilhanas
Islands (the largest
river archipelago in the world) and turn into the tributary, Rio Cuieiras.
Lunch.
We will prepare equipment for camping before leaving for our survival
training where we will leam the secrets of being self sufficient in the
jungle. Eat and sleep in the jungle.
Day 4
-
After breakfast
we will trek back to the boat and go fishing for
piranhas and other fish. Lunch.
We will travel towards the Rio Solimoes, stopping overnight at Janauari
Lake.
Day 5 -
We will spend the morning at the Meeting
of the Waters then
continue up the ‘Furo do Araça’. At night we will go out hunting for
alligators.
Day 6 -
After
breakfast, paddle in the canoes though the Igarapes and Igapos then in the
afternoon fish using spears, fishing lines and nets.
Day 7 -
Leave for the Battata Igarape visit the Ze Açu Igarape. At night
we will hunt for çau alligators.
Day 8 -
Trek to the Planice, learning about various types of medicinal
plants, edible water and possibly hunting for food.
Day 9 -
Return to Araça visiting the ‘Dolphin’ and ‘garçal’ lakes
and the rubber plantation in the afternoon. After dark we will again fish
using spears.
Day 10- Return
to Manaus along the Solimoes.
Arrival: 5.00pm. Transport: Riverboat or canoe
